Nick Ruth is a healthcare industry executive with a long-term track record of building teams and brands at Carl Zeiss Meditec, Alcon, Novartis and Merck.
He has strong and diverse experience leading product launches and turnarounds in the pharmaceutical, medical device, medical technology and capital equipment industries. Prior to Sydnexis Inc., when at Carl Zeiss Meditec, Nick led the inception and development of the US Surgical Ophthalmology sales and marketing teams, moving the organization from a distributor commercial model to a direct sales commercial model. The new direct commercial team, at that time, went onto become one of the highest growth areas in Zeiss, responsible for ophthalmic surgical microscopes, technical integrated solutions, image guided cataract surgery technologies, phacoemulsification, intra-ocular lenses and consumables.
Prior to Zeiss, Nick was US Senior Director of Marketing at Alcon. At Alcon, he held marketing leadership roles across numerous categories, including pharmaceuticals, surgical capital equipment, medical devices, intra-ocular lenses and consumables. He led several key ophthalmic pharmaceutical launches, relaunches and a successful turnaround of a mature pharmaceutical brand.
Before Nick was a marketing leader, he was a sales leader across numerous therapeutic areas at Novartis and Merck.
Nick holds an MBA from the University of Redlands, CA.
